August in Review: 19 New Resource Packs for Premier Members

On August 1st we launched Vandelay Premier , a membership-based site that provides high-quality design resources and career resources. A lot has happened during our first month of operation, including the release of 19 new resources/packs! This post serves as a monthly roundup to display the new resources that are available for our members, as well as to list the new discounts that are available in the marketplace. Tutorial: Create A Fun Ink Splatter Vector

The process is not very difficult and it should be easy to follow, but it does take some time. Here is a preview of the final result of this tutorial. These splatter vectors are fun to create, and since the end result is in vector format it is highly versatile.

Ideal resolution for an image on the web

Improve Your E-Commerce Design With Brilliant Product Photos

    Product photography could well be the single most important design aspect of any e-commerce website. Without the ability to touch, hold, smell, taste or otherwise handle the products they are interested in, potential customers have only images to interact with. Ultimately, the softer, tastier, flashier and more attractive your products look to shoppers, the more confident they’ll feel about purchasing from you and the better your conversion rate will be. Simple Roy Lichtenstein Style in Illustrator and Photoshop

I have been playing with the Halftone filter in Photoshop for the past few weeks and trying different things we can do with it. I also discover the Width Tool in Illustrator CS 5 and it was a great surprise because now we have much more freedom when playing with strokes. So with these two things in mind I decided that I had to create an image using them, and then the idea of a design inspired in Roy Lichtenstein. There are quite a few tutorials showing how to create this type of image, but I decided to try it myself.
