How to Be Corporate and Still Be Creative
Mar 11, 2010 General, Inspiration
If you’re like me, you graduated from art school and had dreams of working as an art director at a small agency. You envisioned having your own office on the top floor of a loft with 30-foot ceilings. Designers would play ping-pong below; people were allowed to drink beer at work; and brilliant ideas would flow effortlessly from your mind into multi-million-dollar campaigns for clients like Nike and Coca-Cola. In fact, you got a job at a large corporation and were shown to a desk in a sea of light-gray fabric-covered cubicles.

This post has been a long time coming. Whether on Twitter or in the blogosphere, the question often arises, and I have been asked numerous times for my opinion on the ExpressionEngine vs. WordPress debate, and why one would choose one content management system (CMS) over the other. My usual answer is that they cannot be compared.

Mar 9, 2010 General, Inspiration, Resources, Tutorials
For the webdesigners the freebies are really important because these files can help them to create a brilliant and perfect work faster and easier. On internet there are a lot of really brilliant graphic designers who share their works with the community, and it’s why we can find a lot of files on a website like coolvectors.com or vecteezy.com etc. But there is a problem (there is always a problem) in fact these files are totally free and it’s that problem, because each vector file is distributed on lot of different websites and all similar of them are downloaded many times! Actually if you work on a commercial website or if you just want to design a really exceptional and unique webdesign, you cannot use these free vector files . But of course a solution is available on the Internet, this solution is named premium vector pack! It’s the same kind of files but normally with higher quality, better design and especially these files are not distributed massively! Yes it is true, there is a problem with this solution (again a problem, you remember there is always a problem you have to pay these files to download them.

Designers’ Confidence
Mar 9, 2010 General, Inspiration, Resources, Tutorials
Guest article written by Paul Scrivens Originally I titled this article Designers’ Ego, but ego seems to have a negative connotation so I switched it to confidence even though I prefer to use the term ego instead. In the article I will use them interchangeably so please don’t think ego is the mean, pig-headed bully that we conjure up in our imaginations. It’s more the voice that picks you up off the ground and dusts your shoulders off so you can try again. Do you ever come to the point sometimes when you are designing and the design is just simply not working so you begin to wonder why you are even a designer or could even claim to be one?
