Working with Interior Light: Part 1
Feb 15, 2010 General, Inspiration, Resources, Tutorials
When you go inside, your eyes don’t register the light change as being particularly impressive. But while the change is not recorded as a large difference by the eyes, the camera sees everything differently. The biggest things to think about when photographing inside are the lower light level and the very different white balances. This article should help you better understand how to deal with light when shooting inside.

An Introduction to Exposure Blending with RAW
Jan 20, 2010 General, Inspiration, Resources, Tutorials
If you regularly shoot landscapes, you’ll soon make a discovery that seems obvious when you think about it – the sky is much brighter than the land. This is a real problem when you’re taking photos of sunsets, especially when the sun is still above the horizon. The sky is so bright that if you expose for sky, anything on land goes black. If you expose for the land, the sky is washed out and you lose the beautiful sunset that you set out to photograph.

A few weeks ago I posted a tutorial showing how I created the new Abduzeedo’s 2010 symbol , which will be used for icons, posters, t-shirts and other gears. That tutorial was about the Illustrator walk-through process and in the end there was the light effect version of the symbol that I created in Photoshop. So in this tutorial I will show you how to create that effect. It’s a sort of monitor/halftone effect mixed with glows and other light effects.

30 Hilarious Print Advertisements
Jan 14, 2010 General, Inspiration, Resources, Tutorials
In today’s world of interactive web-based marketing, viral campaigns and high production television commercials, the print ad remains one very powerful and effective means for advertisers to reach their audience. The printed format, whether it is for magazines, newspapers or billboards, sets specific challenges for ad designers. An idea or message must be communicated simply and swiftly, it must be eye-catching enough to grab the viewer’s attention and convey the important information in an instant. When a print designer employs humour to carry this information, the result can be become a visual ‘one-liner’, a joke that speaks the message the ad intends.
